Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C) Stock Has Not Seen This Volume Since April

Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C) stock volume during Wednesday’s NYSE trading session was the lowest seen since the beginning of April of this year.  Share volume for “C” stock has been gradually decreasing ever since the middle of April.  Volume observed for the company amounted to only 331.9 million shares traded.  April, 5th is the most recent date which experienced a higher trading volume on the lower end of the scale.  344.5 million shares were traded on that day.

Trading for Citigroup’s stock did not come out strong in any regard for yesterday.  Reaching an intraday high of $4.16 per share was the highlight of the day, before entering a range of $4.10 to $4.12 for most of the day before trading down 1.68% for the day at $4.09 per share.  The overall technical picture of Citi’s stock is a symmetrical triangle pattern, and the Treasury is not helping matters by selling off shares in large amounts when Citigroup experiences share gain which helps further extend this technical figure.

From a high of $5.53 to a low of $2.92 seen on the current daily chart, Citi’s share price has been squeezed and compressed every time it tries to breakout.  After-market trading of the company leading up to this morning descended to a low of $4.06 per share.  For pre-market trading on this morning of Thursday, shares have opened for trading at $4.12, ironically, exactly 4:12 A.M. Eastern.  As of 9:17 A.M Eastern, share price of the company has not managed to rise above $4.13.
