Ohio State Dominates Marshall University in Season Opener

Ohio State Dominates Marshall 45-7

It was the first game of the season for The Ohio State Buckeyes, instead of hitting their own teammates in practice they finally got a chance to hit somebody outside of their own teammates, in this case it was: Marshall University.  And hit it, they did.  On the season opener, Marshall traveled to the ‘Shoe for an old fashioned, wood-shedding.

The only time Marshall manages to score was on a special teams play, where Drew Basil of Ohio State attempted a 53 yard field goal which was blocked and Ahmed Shakoor of Marshall returned the blocked kick 45 yards for a touchdown.  Afterward,  Tyler Warner of Marshall successfully completed a field goal to tack on an extra point.

The Buckeyes responded to the special teams blunder in prompt fashion, wasting no time on the next possession with Terrelle Pryor completing a 65 yard pass to Dane Sanzenbacher for a quick-strike touchdown.  Devin Barclay & Co. came onto the field afterward and Barclay successfully completed an extra point field goal.

It looked little more than scrimmage match for the Buckeyes, and many second stringers got to experience collegiate football.  Marshall came into Columbus Ohio with a new head coach, Doc Holliday.  Marshall clearly had the less talented personnel on the field, but it was no real surprise.  Final score:  Ohio State 45, Marshall 7.
