Light Bulb Recall – Trisonic Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs Recalled By CPSC


photo of recalled flourescent light bulbEastern America Trio Products Inc. of Flushing, New York, in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), have announced a voluntary recall of 124,000 Trisonic compact fluorescent light bulbs due to a possible fire hazard.

According to CPSC, the bulbs may overheat and catch on fire. Reports of four incidents resulting in minor property damage have been reported. Consumers should stop using the light bulbs immediately.

The defective fluorescent bulbs were imported from China and sold in discount stores in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania in the $1 and $1.50 price range throughout the entire year of 2008.

The recall involves Trisonic compact fluorescent light bulbs in the 15-, 20-, 22- and 25-watt ranges, with model numbers TS-EN 15W/SP, TS-EN 20W/SP, TS-CFL 22WB or TS-EN 25W/SP printed on the base of the bulb.

CPSC recommends that consumers stop using the fluorescent bulbs and contact Eastern America Trio Products Inc. at 800-661-7146 during weekday business hours for a full refund.
