Smartphone using Windows Phone 7 OS
GEICO, a Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A) subsidiary, is one of the largest auto insurance providers in the U.S. More than 10 million Americans have insurance coverage with GEICO. The company is now using Microsoft’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows Phone 7 OS to connect with customers as well as employees.
GEICO has adopted Windows Phone 7 as the corporate smartphone for its 24,000 company employees. Employees are able to place calls, create appointments, send e-mail and attend meetings via GEICO corporate accounts.
For better interaction with customers, GEICO has created an application for Windows Phone 7 called GEICO GloveBox. By downloading the application, customers can pay bills, get policy ID information, and receive help in the case of an accident, or when needing roadside assistance. Instructions for drivers detailing how to change flat tires or jump start automobiles are even made available.
