Prevent Heart Attacks With Dr. Oz Challenge

Dr. Oz challenged audience members and viewers alike to take a 4 week challenge to reduce heart disease by 90% on The Dr. Oz Show yesterday. Dr. Oz called it his 28 Days to Prevent a Heart Attack challenge.

Week #1 is artery maintenance. Dr. Oz wants people to add 2 tablespoons of flax seed oil to their breakfast to loosen up the blood vessels and keep arteries from becoming blocked off so badly. Dr. Oz also said to take 2 baby aspirin with a glass of water before bed. In addition,  stretching for 10 minutes every morning not only stretches the muscles, but also the arteries.

Week #2 is to challenge your heart. Dr. Oz wants people to increase their heart rate and recommended climbing stairs or steps for 7 minutes each day. He also asked people to take a brisk 20 minute walk each day.

Week #3 is to lower your blood pressure by adding 3 fruits to a day to your diet. Dr. Oz said to make meat a side dish and vegetables the main course for meals, which would also reduce salt intake.

Week #4 is to reduce stress by making 2 social phone calls a week and having 1 social visit. Interaction with friends helps reduce stress levels. Dr. Oz also said that having sex reduces stress.
