Harry Potter fans will be able to finally read the Harry Potter novels on the e-Book format, however, a definitive and exact date has yet to be announced. This will be the first time an e-Books of the Harry Potter novels will be officially sanctioned by J.K. Rowling. There have been illegal electronic-versions of the books known to exist in the past, now people will be able to read them completely free of guilt — for a price.
The e-Books will be released via “Pottermore,” a website that has been under construction for the past two years under guidance of J.K. Rowling. The emphasis behind Pottermore initially is to grant interested persons of Harry Potter an online experience that they can explore and learn about characters within the books, and movies. At a later date, an online store will be implemented where people will be able to purchase finally the e-Book versions of the novels.
Rowling noted, “Pottermore has been a really great way to give back to the Harry Potter readership, who made the books such a big success. I am still receiving countless, a huge amount of mail – I thought it would really drop off by now. Stories, drawings, suggestions I write prequels, sequels, every week.” Additionally, the electronic books will be free of Digital Rights Management (DRM).
