Nintendo Switch Update 4.0 Lets You Transfer Save Data

Switch Update Adds Video Capture

The Nintendo Switch can now capture 30-second chunks of gameplay for a select number of games thanks to an update that hit the system overnight.

Transferring game save data and user profiles between one Switch console and another sounds more straightforward, however.

Probably the most important change is the ability to transfer saves between consoles.

Wireless USB shouldn't be confused with bluetooth headphones, which as far as we know still doesn't work with the Switch.

System update 4.0.0 is available for download right now, as long as you have an internet connection. If the save data's gone, it's gone. And let's not forget, the Switch supports huge SDXC memory cards, so saving any amount of data to a card will never be an issue.

Rep. Tom Marino Is Out As Trump's Drug Czar Pick
Trump announced on Twitter Tuesday that the Republican Pennsylvania congressman "has informed me that he is withdrawing his name". Trump told reporters on Monday he would reverse Marino's nomination if it was "one percent negative to doing what we want to do".

For now, there's still no sign of a cloud backup for game saves. There's also a new data transfer option we'll explain below. Other consoles (and, of course, PCs) can stream games in their entirety. Previously, you could only take screenshots. Well, that later date is here, and Nintendo has technically delivered on its promise to enable video recording. However, it seems like they will be available in the game, sadly only in a limited capacity.

Not all games support the feature, unfortunately, and it's unclear if games will need to be updated to be compatible with the feature. Those are all first-party titles; it's not clear if or when support for the feature will expand to third parties.

Nintendo Insider is reporting that the latest update went out yesterday for Nintendo Switch owners. The option is inside system settings under users.

I can attest from personal experience that every Nintendo NY event draws an absolutely massive crowd, so if you're in the area and want to participate, be sure to get there bright and early!
