Luis Suarez feels Barcelona is the next logical step for Liverpool striker Philippe Coutinho

Luis Suarez has talked up Philippe Coutinho leaving Liverpool by saying he would "bring a lot" to Barcelona, who failed in their attempts to sign him in the summer.

Reports in Spain claim that Liverpool have rejected Barcelona's latest transfer offer which was approximately £106.4million.

The 25-year-old handed in a transfer request in a bid to force a move to the La Liga giants but it made no difference as the Merseysiders dug their heals in and would not be bullied.

Having stood fast against Barcelona's extravagant offers, Liverpool will be just as determined to retain Coutinho in an effort to increase their chances of progressing higher up the table in the Premier League.

Suárez became close friends with Coutinho during his spell at Liverpool and when asked what his ex-colleague would bring to Barcelona, he said: "A lot".

With the winter transfer window soon approaching, the saga revolving around Coutinho is taking a new turn every day.

"Obviously he would have wanted [to join] because he is a player who has ambition and any player would want to come to Barcelona", he explained.

"Despite trying to leave Liverpool he continued as one more helping the team and working".

Sport are now so confident of Coutinho leaving Liverpool for Barcelona in January that they claim the main issue between the two clubs is how to divide the payments.

"Any player would want to join this club and it was difficult for him to come in the summer but he is a true professional and (because the move did not happen) he has worked hard", the Uruguay striker continued.

Philippe Coutinho is now with the Brazil squad preparing for friendly matches against Japan and England.
