Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is Coming and, Dear God, So Much Power!

First Look: With the new 2019 Corvette ZR1, Chevy builds the best 'Vette yet

Here Is Your First Look at the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

There's more to the flagship Corvette than its powerful engine, however, as the ZR1 has also gone through a series of aerodynamic upgrades compared with the previous range-topping beast, the Z06.

On the torque side, there's 715 lb-ft, or 969 Nm.

A 7-speed manual gearbox is standard, with the new 8-speed automatic an option. It's powered by a supercharged V8 that pushes out more than 760 PS with almost 970 Nm of torque and also comes with a unique aerokit that keeps it firmly on the ground.

If you're after the highest top speed possible, you will have to go with the Low Wing configuration as that will enable the ZR1 reach more than 210mph.

How the world reacted to Italy missing out on World Cup finals
That is the only regret I have and certainly not that I am finishing my career, because time passes and it's only right. It marked the first time the four-time World Cup winners had missed the finals since 1958.

"I've never driven a Corvette like this before, and nobody else has either, because there's never been one like this before", Mark Reuss, a General Motors executive vice president, resident auto guy, and unabashed Corvette enthusiast, said in a statement. "The new wings, for example, help generate more downforce without adding drag, enhancing road holding and top speed".

The ZR1 also sports aggressive new design elements, including a more sculpted hood, larger and lower air intake grilles above a more prominent splitter and a massive rear spoiler. It's a 6.2-litre Eaton-supercharged cast-aluminium V8.

The ZR1's leather seats have available microfiber inserts. Meanwhile, the High Wing comes with summer-only Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and a different front splitter, to go with its 950 pounds of downforce at top speed. Both of the rear wings are attached to the car's chassis - something Chevrolet claims will increase strength and stability. Chevy didn't announce pricing, but it will probably come in at just over $100,000, continuing Corvette's pattern of offering bonkers performance for a relative song.
