Ontario College Strike Continues As Faculty Unanimously Votes "No" To Offer

Ontario's striking college faculty voted Thursday to reject a contract offer and continue their almost five-week job action.

"The Colleges bargaining team is in touch with the mediator for a resumption of bargaining", said Rick Webb, Sault College human resources and corporate communications director, speaking to SooToday.

The strike is threatening to go into a sixth week, putting the semester in jeopardy for 14,000 full-time students, plus 32,000 part-timers, on local Conestoga campuses in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Stratford, Guelph, Ingersoll and Stratford. "Additionally the fall semester will be extended in January; however we are unable to provide specific dates until the strike is over". But most of the details depend on how long the strike lasts.
