CBS News Fires Charlie Rose After Sexual Misconduct Allegations

CBS suspends Charlie Rose; PBS halts his show after allegations

Charlie Rose's CBS colleagues react on air: 'There is no excuse for this alleged behaviour'

They talked in detail about the sexual misconduct allegations against Rose, a television news icon who has co-hosted the morning show since 2012.

Rose said in a tweet after the Post published its story, "I deeply apologize for my inappropriate behavior". The victims told the publication that Rose, 75, had made unwanted sexual advances toward them including instances of groping, lewd phone calls and walking around naked in front of them.

"What do you say when someone that you deeply care about has done something so frightful?" anchor Gayle King said at the opening of CBS This Morning, which she has hosted alongside Rose and Norah O'Donnell.

Megan Creydt, who worked on Rose's PBS show in 2005 and 2006, was the third woman to go on the record. "After reading that article in the Post, it was deeply disturbing, troubling and painful for me to read".

She said that while the story described a Rose she did not know, "I'm also clearly on the side of the women who have been very hurt and damaged by this". King asked. "How do you wrap your brain around that?"

"In light of yesterday's revelations, PBS has terminated its relationship with Charlie Rose and cancelled distribution of his programs", PBS President and CEO Paula Kerger said in a statement.

PBS has ended its partnership with Charlie Rose, host of its long-running interview show, after several women accused him of sexual misconduct.

"Despite Charlie's important journalistic contribution to our news division, there is absolutely nothing more important, in this or any organization, than ensuring a safe, professional workplace-a supportive environment where people feel they can do their best work". On Tuesday's CBS This Morning, Rose's co-anchors Nora O'Donnell and Gayle King spoke frankly about the alleged behavior. One said he "groped her breasts" as she drove him in a vehicle.

Both King and O'Donnell applauded the courage the women must have had to take steps to speak up about what happened to them.

In a statement, Rose apologised and said he was "greatly embarrassed".

Said King: "I really am reeling". Godfrey Ryan says when she complained to Yvette Vega, the show's executive producer, she dismissed it as "Charlie being Charlie". I always felt that I was pursuing shared feelings, even though I now realise I was mistaken.

Rose took a leave of absence from CBS This Morning in February to undergo heart surgery to replace an artificial aortic valve.
