'Captain Marvel': Jude Law Lands Male Lead Opposite Brie Larson

Jude Law is in discussions to star alongside Brie Larson in Captain Marvel. The Oscar-winning Room actress was cast as Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel last July.

Jude Law is really notching up the big film roles. Carol Danvers is an Air Force pilot who gains superpowers after an accident fuses her DNA with that of a powerful Kree (alien) warrior.

Law will play 'Doctor Walter Lawson, a.k.a. Mar-Vell, who becomes a mentor of sorts to Danvers as she tries to figure out her new powers'. Should a deal place, he'll play the film's male lead alongside Larson and, presumably, Star Wars alum Ben Mendelsohn.

Larson previously said that some Captain Marvel fans won't be satisfied with her take on the character. It is now unclear on what role Law will play. Law is now filming "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindewald" as a young Albus Dumbledore. He is also still attached to appear in a third Sherlock Holmes movie with the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr.

The Fantastic Beasts sequel comes out on November 16, 2018 while Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8, 2019.
