Logan Mott, 15, was apprehended by the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol as he tried to cross into Canada from near Buffalo, New York, the Sheriff's Office tweeted Friday, two days after becoming the subject of a manhunt that started roughly 1,000 miles away in Neptune Beach, Florida.

Jacksonville authorities said on Friday that French's body had been found in a shallow grave.

Eric French is a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office corrections officer. A 2015 Dodge Dart was also missing from his mother's home.

She added that "no matter what, Logan is our child and we love him and are standing by him to help in any way".

"We have lost a lovely person and she will be dearly missed".

Campbell-Mott, who lives in Missouri, told WJAX that Logan's father, who is her ex-husband and French's son, last heard from French via text on Tuesday when she confirmed she would pick him up at the airport the following day.

"We have video surveillance of an individual we believe to be Logan Mott, with what we believe to be the auto that's missing in this case, in south central Pennsylvania yesterday at 1:15 pm", says Lendvay.

During a press conference Friday, police said they had surveillance video from the Pennsylvania area of a person matching Mott's description.

The boy is a student at Sandalwood High School in Jacksonville.

She said a Jacksonville detective will fly to meet Logan on Saturday. "His father and I just want answers".

He had not called his mother and come home, but had instead traveled all the way from Neptune Beach to near Buffalo, where federal agents detained him at the Canadian border.
