Shkreli must turn over Wu Tang album, prosecutors tell court

Shkreli's Wu-Tang Album Could Be Seized by US Prosecutors

The Governments Wants To Seize Martin Shkreli's One-Of-A-Kind Wu Tang Album

Martin Shkreli might have to forfeit his one-of-a-kind Wu-Tang album "Once Upon a Time in Shaolin".

In court papers, prospectors wrote that the $7.3 million total represents "a conservative computation of the proceeds Shkreli personally obtained as a result of his three different securities fraud crimes of conviction".

Martin Shkreli, dubbed the "pharma bro" for exploits such as jacking up the price of a life-saving drug by 5,000 percent, should forfeit $7.4 million, including his Wu Tang Clan album and a Picasso painting, US prosecutors said on Friday.

They're also set to take a Picasso painting, an Enigma machine, $5 million in cash (from his E-Trade account), and his shares of Turing Pharmaceuticals. A Brooklyn jury deliberated five days before finding Shkreli guilty on Friday on three of eight counts.

The Wu-Tang album authorities are trying to get him to handover was actually sold back in September for $1M on eBay, half of what he actually acquired it for.

Shkreli is notorious for raising prices exponentially on the Aids drug Daraprim, and for his unabashed responses to critics, which earned him the nickname "pharma bro".

Additionally, there was mention of Shkreli's copy of what may be "Tha Carter V", the lost double-album from rap legend Lil Wayne.

He was convicted in August of securities fraud and conspiracy after misleading investors in his hedge funds, MSMB Capital and MSMB Healthcare.

Shkreli's lawyer Ben Brafman told BuzzFeed News he will "vigorously oppose" the government's motion.

"Now that Shkreli has been convicted, substitute assets of his have been located and should be applied to partially satisfy the forfeiture money judgment", the government said in a letter to U.S. District Judge Kiyo Matsumoto.
