Four days after Fisher officially left Tallahassee for Texas A&M, Florida State has reportedly hired Oregon's Willie Taggart as its next head coach.

Taggart spent just one season at OR following his tenure locally at the University of South Florida.

Prior to coaching in Eugene, Taggart was the head man at South Florida.

The Ducks made a quicker turnaround under the new coach, going 7-5 in his first year after managing just a 4-8 record the year before. Co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Mario Cristobal will be the interim head coach when OR faces Boise State in the Las Vegas Bowl on December 16. Tigard High School's Bradan Lenzy decommitted.

Before that he spent three seasons as head coach at his alma mater, Western Kentucky, inheriting a winless program that he turned around with back-to-back winning seasons. He helped South Florida earn its first 10-win season in history in 2016.

Baker Mayfield, Lamar Jackson, Bryce Love announced as finalists for Heisman Trophy
Each year, up to five finalists are asked to attend the Heisman Trophy ceremony in New York City following Championship Weekend. He now leads the nation in passing efficiency rating, completion percentage, yards per pass and multiple other categories.

And now he's the Seminoles' next head coach.

"His values are in line with ours, with academics as important as the product on the field", said Ed Burr, chairman of Florida State's board of trustees.

While the 41-year-old has a mere 47-50 career record in FBS, it doesn't quite show the job he has done to improve teams from where they were before arriving.

The Florida State football program has its new leader. Yet for certain, athletic director Stan Wilcox did his due diligence to hire the best-possible candidate for the job.

One thing is certain: the Ducks and Broncos will meet in Las Vegas for the first time since the infamous 2009 postgame incident between the two teams which saw LaGarrette Blount punch a Boise State player in the face, prompting a suspension.
