Dangerously cold wind chills arrive Christmas Eve

Snow squalls appear north of Detroit

Wind chills between -5 degrees and -15 degrees Fahrenheit are expected starting tomorrow.

Extended: Skies clear Tuesday night and it will be bitterly cold by early Wednesday morning with lows near zero north of I-70 and near 8 at the Lake of the Ozarks. Expect wind chills to range from 20 below zero to 30 below zero in portions of west central Wisconsin and central, east central, south central, southeast and west central Minnesota. Wind chills that low can cause frost bite to exposed skin in 30 minutes!

Wind gusts today reached as high as 45 miles per hour today at the Syracuse Hancock International Airport just before 1 p.m. Temperatures ranged between 22 degrees and 34 degrees Fahrenheit. Winds: W 10-20.
