In the city to inaugurate the Metro's Magenta line, Modi pointed to the saffron robed Adityanath and said that looking at his dress, the CM appeared to be superstitious, but had actually shown that he had the courage to break superstitions.

The stretch, which will ferry approximately 3.6 lakh commuters every day and help connect Uttar Pradesh's Noida with Faridabad in Haryana through the Violet Line (Escorts Mujesar-Kashmere Gate), was inaugurated by the Prime Minister around 5 p.m. on Monday.

It is an achievement to have prime minister in the state, Adityanath said as he welcomed Modi. The senior Aam Aadmi Party leader also said those who "hiked Delhi Metro fares fear Kejriwal". He added that for the Union Government, decisions are about national interest and not political gains.

Talking to DNA, Ambrish Kuhar, a government employee and a resident of Noida Sector 37, said the Magenta Line was an answer to their long pending prayers.

The Prime Minister congratulated the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, and said his focus on good governance is taking the State to new heights. He said, "When I became CM, people told me of a few places where no CMs went because they were inauspicious". Both stations fall in Noida, a suburban town in Uttar Pradesh bordering New Delhi. "There were superstitions associated with Noida and in his own style, Yogi Adityanath Ji rose above them and came to Noida".

The other end of the line, for now, will be south Delhi's Kalkaji Mandir. The coaches will reportedly have LED display, power charging capacity, and colourful seats, while the stations will portray themes of nature, yoga, and cultural landmarks.

The Magenta Line also marks the usage of the first platform screen doors (PSDs), which are glass-made screens installed near the edge of platforms that open only when a train arrives and shut after it departs.

Further, the driverless trains will be run on Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) signalling technology, which will facilitate the movement of trains with a frequency of 90 to 100 seconds.
