Worcester County officials are reminding that before you recycle your Christmas tree, take off all of the ornaments and lights because they can jam up the county's equipment.

The time has come to part ways with the handsome family Christmas tree.

Another option is to recycle your tree.

Once your Christmas celebration is finished, be sure to recycle your Christmas tree, now through January 7.

Now that the presents are unwrapped and the cookies eaten, it's time to get rid of the Christmas tree. Residents should also remove plastic tree bags used to cover the tree as it is removed from the house.

In Albemarle County, the Parks and Recreation Department's annual program collects discarded trees, which are chipped into mulch and offered to the public at no cost.

"The city will pick up live Christmas trees put to the curb at no charge as part of our regular weekly yard waste pick up service for city trash customers", Communications Manager for the City of Wilmington Malissa Talbert said.

There is also a suggested donation of one dollar per tree.

Hamilton County's five recycling centers will once again be accepting natural trees at its five recycling locations. Only live trees are accepted - no wreaths.
