Winston, Bucs stun Saints in season finale

The Bucs moved down the field on their first possession of the second half before quarterback Jameis Winston was intercepted in the end zone by Marcus Williams for his second interception of the game.

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (41) runs in for a touchdown during the first half of an National Football League game between the New Orleans Saints and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on December 31, 2017, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL.

After three consecutive incompletions, Winston found tight end Cameron Brate for a 12-yard gain on fourth-and-10 and the dramatic drive was on. It drove 92 yards in 13 plays and took up almost seven minutes for a touchdown and 24-20 lead with 7:07 to go in the fourth quarter at Raymond James Stadium. Winston connected three times with Mike Evans, who finished the season with 1,001 receiving yards, passing the milestone on his last catch of the season.

After the Bucs had taken a 24-20 lead and pinned the Saints on their 8-yard line following the kickoff, the Brees-led offense effectively sliced through Tampa Bay's defense.

Tampa Bay answered and got to the Saints 24-yard line, but Winston missed on three straight plays and they settled for a 42-yard Patrick Murray field goal with 4:31 left, cutting the lead to one point.

The Saints went up, 14-7, on a 7-yard touchdown run by Kamara to close a 65-yard drive in six plays. It would be Kamara again who punched in a 7-yard run to put the Saints up 14-7 with 2:36 remaining in the first quarter.
