Jennifer Lawrence says she's 'extremely offended' by 'sexist' coverage of outfit

The Oscar-winning actor, now on a press tour for thriller Red Sparrow, responded to comments suggesting that the sleeveless Versace outfit worn during a photocall in London implied that she was being mistreated alongside her coat-wearing male co-stars. Users criticized the expectations that women in Hollywood have to fulfill while their male counterparts don't have to try almost as hard.

"Today, she's here to defend her decision amidst what she calls the "'Jennifer Lawrence wearing a revealing dress in the cold' controversy". Twitter users replied to the Versace account's photo of her in the velvet gown with comments such as, "I've seen your attractive suits and coats".

She goes on to say: "I was outside for five minutes". It's creating silly distractions from real issues.

Can we please, in Lawrence's own words, get a grip?

"I'm just a girl who wants you to be nice to me", she explained.

You can see it in full below. While the gents were bundled up in warm jackets, Jennifer was dressed in a revealing Versace gown, one with a plunging neckline and thigh-high slit.

Lawrence released a statement on Facebook, calling her critics "sexist" and claiming she was "extremely offended" by their disapproving comments.

Enter Lawrence to set the record straight.

"It doesn't have anything to do with partisan [politics]", Lawrence said of her involvement with the non-profit organization.

That is true. And perhaps, despite standing up for herself in the past, she's bound to have that little voice in the back of her head suggesting that if she continues to be difficult, she'll find it even harder to get hired again.
