Although, according to ESPN's Josina Anderson, Sherman says no specific date has been scheduled at this time.

However, this isn't a done deal as Sherman is coming off of two surgeries on a torn Achilles tendon - which happened just in November - and it is now unknown what type of an asking price Sherman is presenting.

His best seasons came in 2013 and 2014 when Seattle made two Super Bowl appearances and he has 32 interceptions.

The Bucs are certainly in need of cornerback help.

Sherman, brash and loquacious, had a contentious relationship with former 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh, his coach at Stanford, and delighted in needling the man he once termed "the bully" after Seahawks wins.

I spoke to Richard Sherman last night, he told me after being informed of his release by the #Seattle Seahawks, he has received preliminary interest from the #49ers, #Titans, #Lions, #Raiders, #Texans, #Bucs and #Packers.

The odds of Sherman remaining, though, may not be too high as it's thought he's excited to see what may else be out there, and that if he has to take a pay cut he'd rather do it elsewhere than in Seattle.

After linebacker Malcolm Smith, now with the 49ers, intercepted the pass, Sherman gave Kaepernick the choke sign and mockingly extended a handshake to Crabtree. Last year, he suffered an Achilles injury in Detroit's opening preseason game.

Even if Sherman does not sign with the 49ers immediately it seems pretty clear a return to the Seahawks on a lesser deal than he had isn't first on Sherman's agenda. It's hard to say at this point what the Seahawks team will look like next year, though it's worth pointing out that Seattle still has Russell Wilson, and a franchise quarterback is a great starting point for any National Football League team looking to rebuild.
