It's also slated to retail for $49 dollars, which is a considerable discount over the $99 Apple Pencil, assuming the user is actually interested in using a stylus at all. The problem? At $49, the Logitech Crayon is roughly half the price of an Apple Pencil. To ensure the highest levels of protection and durability, the Rugged Combo 2 protects iPad from bumps, scratches and drops of up to four feet. Of course, it has a loop to hold the Logitech Crayon. This is pretty remarkable since that is taller than many young students.
In Logitech's words, it's "an affordable solution" for students so that they can take handwritten notes, draw and illustrate, and create diagrams. Logitech says, "In addition to being durable, the Rugged Combo 2 case offers an adjustable kickstand for a wide range of viewing angles and four use modes: Typing mode, for taking notes; Viewing mode, to watch educational apps and videos; Notebook mode, for writing with digital pencils and reading; and Travel mode, which protects the iPad screen during transport". They're also silent, so tapping away on an iPad won't disturb other nearby students. It is not clear if home consumers outside of education will be able to buy them.
The Logitech Rugged Combo 2 and Crayon are priced at $99.99 and $49.99, respectively, and will be available for purchase to schools and school districts in the United States starting this summer.
