At present the extent and amounts of any snow are very uncertain, and the risk of disruption is low.

There is a slight chance some rural communities could become cut off.

Scattered snow and rain showers will give way to partly sunny skies by Thursday afternoon, the National Weather Service's Billings office said.

Much of the areas have a chance of a rain/snow mix, with about 1 to 3 inches of snow by early Saturday in much of the area. More prolonged rain is possible in northern England. There will be quite a range of temperatures with areas in the south reaching double figures whilst some parts of Scotland struggle to get above 5degC or so.

For most of the country the day will be cloudy, punctuated by some sunshine and showers, before more rain moves in from the south on Monday morning bringing the potential of further snow to the northern hills.

We will cool down tomorrow but temperatures will still be in the 70s which is 10+ degrees above normal.

Overnight temperatures could sink to -10C (14F) in parts bringing harsh frosts and icy roads as daytime highs hover below average, experts warn. Showers or some longer spells of rain and hill snow.

Early rain will be clearing east on Saturday and becoming brighter. But driving could be tricky with blowing snow in the air.
