Trump kicked off Easter with an aggressive tone against immigrants pouring into the U.S

Former President Barack Obama created the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program to provide temporary protection and work permits to hundreds of thousands of immigrants who are living in the USA illegally after being brought here as children.

The statement from the president comes nearly a month after the program officially expired, although it has been kept on life support through various rulings from federal courts.

In two more tweets Sunday morning, Trump threatened to dismantle the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which he called Mexico's "cash cow", if the country doesn't reduce the flow of immigrants coming across the southern United States border.

Trump tweeted that the situation is "Getting more dangerous" and "Caravans" are coming.

On Monday morning, the president tweeted: "So amusing to watch Fake News Networks, among the most dishonest groups of people I have ever dealt with, criticize Sinclair Broadcasting for being biased".

As many noticed, the tweet came after Fox & Friends ran a segment on 1,200 people who are seeking asylum in Mexico City, speculating about whether "two-thirds" of them would come to the USA via "caravans".

U.S. President Donald Trump renewed calls for Congress to pass immigration legislation on Monday, one day after saying he would not consider a deal to protect young immigrants.

The Fox headline was "Caravan of illegal immigrants headed to U.S".

This morning, Trump also casually demanded an end to the filibuster, so the Senate could pass border legislation he wanted. "Can't happen that way anymore".

White House officials have long said Trump's tweets are official presidential statements, and he has been known to use Twitter to preview formal policy pronouncements.

The court also rejected a claim that another GTA V character was based on the reality TV star Karen Gravano on similar grounds. The GTA V character in question, Lacey Jones , described herself as an "actress slash singer" and the "voice of a generation".

Here's a closer look at Trump's tweets, fact-checked and with context.

Asked about the meaning of his tweet about the DACA deal, Trump appeared to still leave some leeway for a deal.

Trump's reoccurring mentions of "caravans" seems to be a nod to efforts by "Pueblo Sin Fronteras", or People Without Borders. Remember, today is Easter Sunday. The president, however, rejected immigration proposals from congressional Democrats in recent months. An inaccurate news report should not serve to question this strong cooperation.

Senate Republican leaders have ignored previous calls from Trump advocating the so-called nuclear option, which would involve changing Senate rules so Republicans could more easily overcome Democratic opposition to legislation in a chamber they control with a thin majority of 51 out of 100 seats. Trump rescinded the program in October, but courts have ruled that it can remain in place for now.

Trump lashed out at Mexico in his second of the three tweets Sunday.

"They (Mexico) must stop them at their Northern Border, which they can do because their border laws work, not allow them to pass through into our country, which has no effective border laws", he said.

Trump claimed on Sunday that "a lot of people are coming in because they want to take advantage of Daca, and we're going to have to really see". They began as short processions of migrants, some dressed in biblical garb and carrying crosses, as an Easter-season protest against the kidnappings, extortion, beatings and killings suffered by many Central American migrants as they cross Mexico.

Mexico routinely stops and deports undocumented Central Americans, sometimes in numbers that rival those of the United States.

They also want Congress to terminate a 1997 court settlement that requires the government to release children from custody to caretakers while their cases are making their way through immigration court.

Trump's tweets come amid tense negotiations over NAFTA between his administration and that of Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto.
