Congress President Rahul Gandhi today attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a wide spectrum of issues, ranging from the alleged oppression of Dalits at the behest of BJP to women's safety.

Addressing a gathering here to mark the party's "Save the Constitution" campaign, he accused Modi of destroying country's reputation overseas and slammed his government's record in protecting the weaker sections and minorities. "If I am allowed to talk for 15 minutes on Rafale issue in Parliament until Modi, he isn't going to have the ability to resist it", mentioned that the 48-year-old Congress chief, who took responsibility for the party in December last year. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi is afraid of speaking in Parliament", he said.

Reffering to the alleged involvement of a BJP MLA in Unnao rape case, Mr Gandhi said the PM's earlier slogan of Beti Bechao, Beti Padhao (Save daughters, educate them) had become Beti bachao (save daughters) from the BJP and its leaders.

"Congress made the global reputation of India in 70 years and PM Modi has hurt our image in just four years of his governance, we have to protect it, " he said. "He isn't bothered about rapes", said the Congress President.

"If there is one party that has destroyed the spirit of our Constitution, it is the Congress".

The campaign "Save the Constitution" will run at the village level till April 14, 2019. They thought India's Constitution, institutions, the Supreme Court had a lot of value and looked up to us.

Gandhi said International Monetary Fund chief Christine Lagarde had told Modi recently that atrocities were being committed against women in India.

The Congress VP also attacked the BJP for its anti-Dalit activities.

"The atrocities against backward class are increasing, and the person who sees manual scavengers getting spiritual happiness does not speak a word after all these incidents", the Congress president said.
