A message bomb is making iPhone and Android versions of WhatsApp freeze

New message bug crashes WhatsApp Android devices

HIGH ALERT WhatsApp users! Beware of spam message 'Don't Touch Here'

Separately, WhatsApp's latest Android beta version hints that the company has registered a new domain name called wa.me, a short link for api.whatsapp.com, and it opens a chat automatically without the help of the app in the browser. The truth is that the text "do not touch the black circle" on WhatsApp hides thousands of characters inside WhatsApp which the application is not able to process them causing an immediate blockage and termination of WhatsApp. If the phone number entered by you is invalid, WhatsApp will notify you. However, after users touch the black dot, WhatsApp will hang, at least temporarily, and may then crash. The other says, "This is very interesting" with an emoji of a laughing face, though it's unlikely you'll be laughing once your phone crashes. It's not as dire as needing to uninstall reinstall but it is a hassle if you'll have to restart both the app and your phone, especially if you need to send important messages to contacts.

Fear not; the bug itself is harmless, and reports state that there is nothing malicious embedded within the message.

A new forward message is now making the rounds on WhatsApp causing the messenger app to jam when the recipient taps on the message box. You may have already come across it and wondered how just tapping on a single emoji can cause an app to freeze and become unresponsive. Such threatening messages are not limited to the Android platform though, iMessage on iOS has also encountered texts that sent the app crashing.

Message bombs are bugs which are being forwarded via messages.

But fortunately, it doesn't seem as though the WhatsApp bug will wipe your handset or require you to completely reboot the device.

We don't know how much time will WhatsApp take to resolve this issue. You should also inform other WhatsApp contacts to not click on such messages stating the reason why. It is better to delete such messages beforehand.
