Flight from Pyongyang lands in Singapore ahead of North Korean leader’s arrival

US President Donald Trump has arrived in Singapore for Tuesday's historic summit with North Korea's Kim Jong-un.

Kim arrived at Singapore's Changi Airport after his longest trip overseas as head of state wearing his trademark dark Maoist suit and distinctive high cut hairstyle.

During the media interview, Mr Lee said that Singapore had committed a lot of resources to the summit's logistics and security because of the profile of the meeting and the nature of what is being discussed.

The two leaders are staying in separate hotels, not far from each other.

Kim and Trump both arrived in Singapore a few hours apart on Sunday.

The historic meeting between the two leaders will take place at the island resort of Sentosa on Tuesday.

But since taking power in 2011 after his father's death, the youthful Kim has displayed a mixture of ruthlessness, pragmatism and statecraft to get this prize: to sit across the table with the leader of the United States and be treated as an equal.

But critics have warned that the meeting risks being largely light on substance considering what is believed to be a wide gap between the USA and the North on the denuclearization issue.
