Immigration rights advocates in Arizona and around the country are continuing to speak out against the Department of Homeland Security's policy of separating migrant children from their parents.

Sessions defended the separation policy this week by citing the bible, after religious leaders, including a cardinal in the Catholic Church, called the separation of families "immoral".

Nielsen has muddied the debate by insisting that children will only be separated in narrow circumstances, including if the adult has broken the law. The Trump administration is now fingerprinting family members wishing to take in the unaccompanied children, and it wants to share other information it has about the children's families with the Department of Homeland Security.
