A viral video is causing concern online after it shows a priest slapping a baby during a baptism ceremony. He then attempts to console the child by grabbing the boy's face and urging him to "calm down, calm down".
The clergyman begins to look irritated at the loud noise and raises his voice to be heard over the baby's crying, apparently speaking directly to the child.
The baby can be seen crying as the family hands him over to the priest.
In the disturbing video, the priest loses his patience with the child and holds his face close to him next to a baptismal font.
The Daily Mail quickly got wind of the video, but it's not known when the footage was filmed, just that it was captured in a church where the ceremony was conducted in French.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that a Catholic priest, Reverend Father Lucien Ambunga, who was inflicted with the deadly Ebola virus, survived it.
The priest won't let go, however, as he holds the stunned baby to his chest, with his hand over the baby's face to muffle the howls.
One user translated the footage into English and claimed the priest was explaining he would pour water on the child's forehead, saying: "He'll have become a little Christian".
People on YouTube took to the comments section to express their disapproval of the priest's behavior. "Calm down", the priest continues before suddenly slapping the infant's cheek.
