A federal judge on Wednesday ordered that Manafort, who was indicted as part of special counsel Robert MuellerRobert Swan MuellerSasse: US should applaud choice of Mueller to lead Russian Federation probe MORE's investigation, move to the Arlington jail so he could better communicate with his lawyers.
Manafort has also spoken daily with his attorneys and has had "multiple visits with his legal team" in jail despite claiming to court that he has struggled to meet his attorneys since being moved further away from their offices. Contrary to Manafort's assertions, the prosecutors argued that his jail, while located two hours from Washington, had provided him with ample access to his lawyers and had not hindered his preparation for trial.
The conditions under which he's being held are considered standard for numerous high-profile inmates housed in the jail's VIP section because of security concerns.
Federal prosecutors said Wednesday as they argued against postponing his financial crimes trial that Manafort said in monitored phone calls that he was being treated like a "VIP" at the Northern Neck Regional Jail.
Not all of Manafort's charges will be tried in Alexandria on July 25; he will face trial again in Washington, D.C., on September 17.

If you've been following along closely as we have, you would notice that Mueller picked up on Ellis' Wednesday footnote burn of Manafort and Co. and is using it to his advantage.
Paul Manafort arrived at the jail in Alexandria, Virginia - the William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center - Thursday morning, according to a spokesperson for the Alexandria Sheriff's Office.
The prosecutors' filing says Manafort has everything he needs to prepare for the trial, including his own phone and computer.
Furthermore, prosecutors said Mr. Manafort has his own bathroom and shower, a self-contained living unit - instead of a cell - that is larger than other inmates' space and he is not required to wear a prison uniform.
"The Special Counsel does not pause to consider the reasons a detained defendant might have to make his situation sound better when speaking with concerned friends and family". Ellis insisted this week that the transfer proceed even after Manafort's lawyers, citing concerns Tuesday about his safety and adjusting to a new jail so close to his trial date, asked that he stay put.
