Microsoft has officially launched the most affordable (by Microsoft) 2-in-1 notebook aka Microsoft Surface Go in the US to compete against the likes of the Apple's 6th Gen iPad with Apple Pencil support.
Microsoft just unveiled the Surface Go, its $399 iPad killer.
In terms of design, the Go moniker looks similar to the standard Surface book with a compact form-factor. The new tablet weighs 1.15 pounds, far lighter than existing Surface products.
The company's new Surface Go takes many design cues from the larger Surface Pro and features the same iconic kickstand as well as support for the Surface Pen and Type Cover. Where the Surface Go starts at $400 and sports an Intel Pentium Gold 4415Y dual-core processorwith up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage space, the Surface Pro has much more impressive choices to pick from.
The introductory Surface Go with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB Storage retails for $399 while the upgraded trim with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage will set you back $549. It's a smaller device at 10-inches at its broadest point, where the Surface Pro measures11.5 x 7.9 x 0.33-inches. What Microsoft aims to provide with the Surface Go is productivity on the move while still maintaining an extremely portable form factor and a slim profile.
In Australia, the baseline Surface Go is priced at $599.

Eight boys brought safely out of flooded Thai caves in two days

US soldier killed in Afghan 'insider attack' identified
The incident marks the first combat fatality for the USA military in Afghanistan since April 30 and the second there this year. Their statement reportedly said that four foreign soldiers had been killed and three wounded at the Tarinkot airport.
"The Surface Go is the smaller brethren of the Surface Pro, and features a 10" PixelSense Display with a 1 800 X 1 200 resolution and a 3:2 aspect ratio. It featuresa Windows Hello camera and secure sign-in using face recognition.
What do you think about the 10-inch Surface Go?
A keyboard case with a trackpad will go on sale at the same time for between $99 and $129, depending on the color, and a Bluetooth mouse costs $34.99.
The ports on the Surface Go are a Surface Connect port for charging and docking the device, a USB Type-C 3.1 port for data, video as well as charging, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a micro SD card slot for memory expansion. The tablet runs Microsoft's restricted Windows 10 S operating system by default, which is no surprise since the company's more expensive Surface Laptop does the same, although users will be able to switch to the full version if desired. An LTE model will come out later this year.
Available for pre-order starting today - although the listing isn't now live on the Microsoft Store at time of writing - the Surface Go will be available for purchase from 2 August.
