Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says Syria's government has a right to defend itself against terrorists. "We are at a turning point in the World".

Lavrov has held a joint press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu after their meeting. "We hope to solve Idlib issue through cooperation", he added.

Cavusoglu also said that Turkey and the USA can solve everything by coming together and talking.

Turkish currency lira plunged to record lows last week before recovering some of its losses in the past two days.

"We won't probably see any direct linkage with the Syrian crisis in the statements made by the United States side when it declares sanctions against our countries (Russia, Iran and Turkey)", he said. "The era of bullying must end", the minister said and called on the U.S.to return to a dialogue, warning that threats and pressure on Turkey would cause chaos. Turkey and Russian Federation will take steps to "enhance strategic partnership", Sergey Lavrov said here on Tuesday.

Last Friday, President Donald Trump ramped up his attack on Turkey by doubling USA tariffs on Turkish aluminum and steel imports. Russia's retaliatory measures against Ankara included restrictions on the activities of Turkish organizations in Russia, a hiring freeze on Russian employers that want to employ Turkish workers and a ban on certain food imports since January 1, 2016.

Turkey has increased tariffs on several USA products, including alcohol, tobacco and cars, according to a new presidential decree published Wednesday in the official gazette.

Russia's Foreign Ministry said Sunday in a statement that Moscow is "willing" to lift visas in some categories for Turkish citizens. The summit focusing on Syria and the wider region will be held in Istanbul on September 7. It will be sinking, and more and more countries-even those which are not affected by the US sanctions-will go away from the dollar, just to be on the safe side, and count on more reliable partners. "Turkey has come to this point over irresponsible actions the U.S.in the past few years".

"I have already spoken about the sanctions: they are illegal, undermine all principles of global trade and principles approved by United Nations decisions, under which unilateral measures of economic duress are unlawful", Lavrov said.
