Dallas police Chief U. Renee Hall told reporters on Saturday that Guyger's arrest warrant had not yet been signed yet because the Texas Rangers were still probing the new information. Texas Rangers coordinated with the Dallas County District Attorney's office to obtain the warrant for Guyger's arrest, officials said, but the warrant had not yet been released.

Guyger fatally shot 26-year-old Botham Jean on Thursday at Jean's apartment.

Jean, 26, was shot Thursday night in his unit in an apartment building near downtown Dallas.

Amber Guyger, who was identified as the police officer who shot Botham Jean late Thursday, shot a suspect in May 2017 after a struggle in which police say the man reached for an officer's Taser.

The news of Guyger's arrest broke on the evening of September 9, 2018 after two days of confusion about whether Guyger, 30, would face charges in the freaky shooting death of Botham Shem Jean, a Saint Lucian man who moved to America to attend a Christian college and later got a job in risk assessment for a prominent company in Dallas.

Amber Guyger is being held at the Kaufman County Jail in lieu of a $300,000 bond, online records show.

Jean, who has held government posts in the island nation of St. Lucia, says her son's death "just feels like a nightmare". Hall said Friday the officer's blood will be tested to determine whether she had been using drugs or alcohol.

A police spokeswoman, Debra Webb, said she did not have further information on the case, including when the officer would be booked into jail.

Bank manager Greg Harshfield told CNN affiliate WXIX that he could hear the shooting unfold from an upper floor of the building. UC Health spokeswoman Kelly Martin said one victim remained there in critical condition and another was listed as serious.

Trump Officials Deny They Wrote New York Times Op-Ed
While Ryan thought that there was no role for Congress to investigate the identity of the writer, close Trump allies like Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., said there was a national security component to this saga that might require oversight.

The shooting has raised questions about whether Guyger, who is white, used deadly force against Jean, a naturalized USA citizen from the Caribbean island of St. Lucia, because he's black. Brown, a black, unarmed 18-year-old, was shot and killed by a white police officer in 2014 in Ferguson, Missouri. He was a native of the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia, who graduated from Harding University and now worked for the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Pastor Michael W. Waters leads a prayer following a Mothers Against Police Brutality candlelight vigil for Botham Jean at the Jack Evans Police Headquarters on Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, in Dallas.

"Initial indications were that we were dealing with an officer-involved shooting". "This family is grieving that that has not happened yet", he said of the wait for investigators to act.

"Right now there are more questions than answers", Mr. Hall said.

Allie Jean said she would speak with her son daily, usually before 10 p.m., but thought he might be out after she didn't hear from him.

Botham Jean attended Harding University in Arkansas and, after graduating in 2016, he had been living and working in Dallas at accounting and consulting firm PwC. They described Jean as a devout Christian and a talented singer. "She has to face whatever the law says".

"You want to think it's fiction", he said. He said he also reached out to the Saint Lucia prime minister to apologize for Jean's death. He was listed on LinkedIn as a risk assurance experienced associate.
